Concert Reviews & Photos Cobra Starship @ House of Blues 08/16/09 Review Cobra Starship returned to Dallas Sunday night, bringing their high energy set to the House of Blues Cambridge Room. The band pleasantly left no time between sets, hitting the stage the second Dj Skeet Skeet got his set up off the stage. Quickly sending the energy of the crowd through the roof as they pushed the barricade practically over and against the sound wedges. Gabe returned the love leaning out over them a multitude of times through out the night. And if you even doubted it, the bands love for Dallas was made quite clear when they gave a big thank you to the crowd, because this is where they broke on the radio. Shortly followed by a joke about them not being as popular though since they were playing the smaller room at the house of blues this time. (I’m sure they could have sold out the big room just as quick as they did the small one, however Texas alternative band Blue October beat them to booking it.)

Gabe was great at holding the audience in his hand, and his band mates were just as capable. Especially Ryland who was getting fancy on guitar and Vicky who just looks super cool on her Keytar, (not to mention her flawless vocals on “Good Girls Go Bad.”) At this show they were once again joined by J-Si from Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, who is more comfortable every time he gets up there with the band to do the rap in “Kiss My Sass.” Another Kidd Kraddick mention came when Gabe dedicated a song to Kellie Rasberry who couldn’t make it to the show that night. The band played through several popular tracks like City is at War, Paparrazzi, Snakes on a Plane, Good Girls Go Bad, and Guilty Pleasure. All very danceable tunes, that the kids ate up and sang along word for word too.

While the set list seemed rather short for a band who has a three album catalog, the audience still had a great time. They’ll all be back for the next show (possibly with Boys Like Girls), that will I’m sure be in the bigger room Gabe.
