Gavin Degraw came to the Lakewood Theatre friday night for his first show in the area, that wasn’t a cut down festival set, since 2006. It was well worth the wait though, being even more seasoned than times past. He knows exactly what the audience wants, and he gives it to them and then some.

He walked out playing guitar, which was quite a change since normally he comes out and goes straight to his piano. But settled into the piano by the second song. He didn’t stay there for too long though going back over to play some more guitar. And then even not playing an instrument at all after that, which was a bit shocking but quite refreshing to get to see him move around a little more on stage and connect with the audience.

Gavin’s very well known for getting up close and personal with the audience during his song Chemical Party. But he was just full of surprises waiting till the number Young Love to climb off stage and up onto the barricade. Touching hands and even taking one girls and kissing the back of it.

Gavin mentioned at one point in the show that playing the Lakewood reminded him of playing at a venue in his home town. Which is a heck of a compliment. There’s no denying that Dallas loves Gavin, and obviously he was feeling that love. The man puts on a heck of a live show and never disappoints. It wont be my last, that’s for sure!
