Gavin Degraw was the headliner for Friday Night of the Annual Taste of Addison Festival. Also on the bill that night was Switchfoot and up and comers I-Nine. But Gavin was the icing on the cake at the end of the night. Having not performed in Dallas in 2 years it was great getting to see Gavin perform some of the new stuff even if it was during a bit of a rushed set.

He did the best he could to keep it semi intimate, even climbing off the stage and trying to get as personal with the large crowd as he could walking by the barricade touching everyones hands and then even going down the middle barricade that led to the soundboard.

My favorite numbers of the night happened to be Lets Get It On because it’s a rarity that he does that cover, Also a rarity is Dancin Shoes, which makes up for the lack of a few of my favorites from the set. This show was also my chance to hear the new arrangements on some of the songs that made the new album, and I have to say the weakest link on the new versions was the song Cop Stop. The backing vocals are ridiculous comparing it to the old version he used to do. That is not a change for the better. That said, his show was still amazing and he always comes out and gives 110 percent to the audience. This is a guy who loves what he’s doing and I hope for everyones sake he gets to continue for a long time.
