Concert Reviews & Photos Marc Broussard @ The House of Blues 1/7/09 Review Wednesday evening Marc Broussard returned to the House of Blues in Dallas for a night of soulful rock music with a little cajun spice sprinkled on top. There are about two things you can expect when you go to a Marc Broussard show. The first is that it will be nothing like the last time you went to see him, and the second is that Marc will leave little room for disappointment. The man loves performing so much that his set is nearly 2 hours of straight music. Sure there will be a song or two you’d like to hear that doesn’t get played. But he’ll turn around and surprise you with a song that you love but weren’t expecting to hear. Marc hit the stage straight into Hardknocks giving the goods right from the start, wasting no time before going into Rocksteady. Jumping back and forth between the new album and old favorites seamlessly. Giving the audience a killer set list to dance, clap and sing along to, and believe me they were feeling it. Some major highlights of the show were the semi acoustic medley he did with Hope for Me Yet, Where You Are, Lovely Day, and Saturday; and the rocked out rendition of Home he did, having Sons of William, Josh Hoge and company on stage singing back up, playing the zydeco, and rocking the tambourine. Joe Stark even grabbing the microphone mixing a little of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” to the number, causing the rowdy crowd to go nuts! Broussard finished out the set with a cover of Parliament’s “Unfunky UFO” throwing on a pair of sunglasses getting down and getting funky with the audience.
