Concert Reviews & Photos Maroon 5 @ Ut Arlington (texas Hall) 11/20/09 Maroon 5 made a stop in the DFW area on their “Back to School” tour this weekend. Students packed into Texas Hall at UT Arlington for an intimate evening with the band friday night.. Wait.. What? Maroon 5 was here? Yep and unless you’re a student, faculty, or staff at UTA or know someone who is, you probably had no clue. But those fortunate enough to score tickets were treated to a great show.

The last time the band rolled through Dallas, we were there, but it was tame compared to the show the guys put on this time. The smaller audience made for a better connection with the band. Adam and the rest of the guys literally bouncing the energy back ten fold. Multiple times Adam and James being a little self indulgent with the guitar riffs and leaping into the air like little kids in a candy store.

The band didn’t sway too much towards one album or the other, mixing the two together nicely. Pulling some old tracks from “Songs About Jane” out of the closet and dusting them off quite nicely might I add. It was nice to hear them do the song “Secret” cause it most definitely has been a while.

Mid set the band treated the audience to a few acoustic tracks.. while it was what would be considered the slow point in the show to call it a lull would be negative and there was nothing negative about the smooth vocals Levine was dishing out. Plus I have to mention the hilarious impression of Aaron Neville, Adam was doing after covering “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.

The band even treated everyone to a brand new song called “Last Chance” which is set to be on their next album, due out in 2010. The taste of that one song has me thirsting to hear more new tracks. Long time fans of the band wont be disappointed in the new material.

So we already know Maroon 5 can rock it out in the biggest of arena’s, but it’s no doubt Maroon 5 excels in a smaller venue. They were connecting on a level they haven’t in years, giving the fans way more than their money’s worth, and an unforgettable night.
